One of the more accomplished members of this draft class, Floyd's scoring ability stands out as he's still the all-time leading scorer in Georgetown history. He also was a three time member of the All-Big East Team (twice first team, once second), a consensus All-American as a senior, Big East Tournament MVP and two-time All-Big East Tourney 1st Team, and 1982 NCAA All-Tournament and All-Region (and 80 All-Region as well).
Floyd is very capable of getting offense as a lead guard, the issue is that he's just going to produce most of it himself. He's got a solid jump shot and his range extends all the way out to the TMBSL 3 point line. He navigates traffic in the paint well, using his quickness and handle to get to spaces on the floor to get a shot off. He's fairly efficient in the paint and with his jump shot. He isn't much of a leaper, so he isn't the kind of guy who will make acrobatic finishes at the rim or compete in dunk contests, but he does have a craftiness that he uses to get shots for himself and he has the strength to deal with contact and get to the free throw line. If you're looking for a guy with great playmaking skills who is going to make his teammates better, though, this probably isn't your guy. He's not much of a passer and had pretty terrible assist numbers for a guy who played on the ball as much as he did in college.
Defensively, Floyd is a very solid team defender and plays his position well. He has active hands and was fairly good at separating defenders from the ball in college. He has the lateral quickness to compete on the perimeter and stay in front of his man. Despite having great size for the point guard position, he isn't much of a factor on the boards, which is a bit disappointing.
Floyd came in and started from day one at Georgetown and has pretty much had steady production throughout his college career. Scouts don't see much upside with him to continue to add to his game, but he is a ready-made pro prospect.
