Walker comes to TMBSL after 3 very successful seasons leading an Arkansas squad to the top of the SWC. While they didn't complete a trifecta of #1 SWC finishes in his senior season (despite a 14-2 conference record), he led his team to three NCAA tournament appearances and went 5-3 there, losing in the regional semifinals to a #1 seed twice and bowing out in the second round his sophomore year.
Walker is classified as a PG but may be best suited as a combo guard off the bench who can provide a scoring spark. He played much bigger than his size and finished very well around the basket and was a frequent visitor to the free throw line. But that penetration will be valuable at the next level and he should be very successful at creating opportunities for his teammates. While he tended to keep the ball and finish those opportunities as a collegian, he will hopefully grow into more of a distributor at the next level if he wants to be a starting point guard. He was a bit loose with the ball at Arkansas, but scouts blame that more on his relentlessly attacking attitude more than glaring issues with his ball-handling ability. He needs to clean his shot mechanics up, as he didn't convert as many opportunities as he should have from the field or the free throw line.
Walker also carries his attitude of relentlessly attacking onto the defensive end. He's not always in the right position (and often you will see his coaching staff begging him to play more within the team concept), but you will find him hunting for steals, blocks, and rebounds. Many have accused him of just looking to pad his box score. It worked for Arkansas, we'll see how it works at the next level.
