Nicknamed "Mr. Everything", Craig Ehlo sports maybe the most inappropriate nickname of the draft class. As one of the younger members of the class and one of the few late bloomers that went to JUCO before coming to Washington State and showing major improvement from his junior to senior year, Ehlo still may blossom into an all-around threat but he hasn't yet showed that in his game at the collegiate level.
He's a bit limited athletically and a bit passive on the offensive end. When initiating offense, he tended to defer to teammates rather than breaking down his defender in isolation to create penetration or a look for himself. He tended to sometimes look for the extra pass instead of taking a decent look he may have had. While he was a bit passive in initiating, he did do a good job of playing without the ball on offense and was efficient as a senior as he was often there to finish on backside cuts, showing an array of moves to finish around the paint. His mechanics from the free throw line as a jump shooter are shaky, shooting only 62% from the line at Washington State, which may explain why he was sometimes hesitant to fire away when given a bit of space to shoot at the perimeter.
He plays well within the team concept on defense and is a good team defender, but look for him to be average in terms of creating possessions for his teams in the way of steals and blocks. He's rarely out of position and does a good job of staying in front of his man on the perimeter, but that dedication to playing within the concept means he isn't going to be hunting for rebounds and helping on the glass on defense.
Maybe that changes as he continues to develop against better competition, scouts think of him as one prospect with the most upside. But as of now, Ehlo has a lot of work to do to be able to be a big contributor at the next level.
