We back bitches. Another off-season of hope that will quickly turn into disappointment when 80% of the class re-signs and the remaining talent goes to a competitor. But hey allow me to break down the best of what may be available because you never really know to you know...
Tier 1: Elite Players at the position, Max them without hesitation
Tier 2: Great Players at the position, Deal could be in the 10m per to full max range
Tier 3: Good Players at the position, Deals could be in the 5-10m per year range
Tier 4: Average Players at the position, MLE's
Tier 5: Roster Filler, LLE's
Make it rain bitches... This is Tier 1
Doug Wrenn (SF) - Still in the upper tier of wings in the league. He's going to be turning 31 going into the 3010 season but his numbers on a top team have been excellent.
Bojan Dubljevic (PF) - Is he still elite? I think he's still a tier one guy. This poor fella has incompetent GM after incompetent GM lead his franchise that can offer hope. Given the bar is set at Ank that shouldn't be to difficult.
Devin Williams (PF) - The man found new hope getting out of Golden State, clearly a toxic environment as the franchise has crumbled. Williams is getting to the end of his rope but very good and worth all the dollars for the next few years he has left.
Nick Van Exel (PG) - Yeah, he's good enough for a PG to be in the land of full max.
Chris Webber (PF) - One of the better players out of this rookie class and still probably oozing
Jamal Mashburn (SF) - I was very high on Monsta Mash but his career has kinda leveled out. Maybe a fresh surrounding could rejuvenate him and bring him to another level. Even if he doesn't hit that final gear he's a max guy.
Calbert Cheaney (SG) - He fills the stat sheet and is super efficient. For a pure SG you wont find much better on this market. I think going to an outside offense could really help him take another step forward. I think like the PG's he's bumped in value because of the lack of elite talent at the position.
Penny Hardaway (PG) - Keeping it simple... Max
Ervin Johnson (PF) - Johnson has done well for the Amigos in his career. Saddled with unrealistic expectations by ownership he's done his best to reach those goals. Having to carry those expectations on his back cause his achilles to rupture and hopefully that marks the end of his run with the Amigos. Johnson will be 29 entering next year but he hasn't shown any signs of slowing. This could be his final contract so worries of the next contract go out the window. Get him in his prime.
Good Guys... Good Players... Tier 2
William Bufford (SF) - Just under the elite's of the league Bufford is a really nice Robin to a team who has Batman. He's a vet and will be 32 so be careful on the bid and length because things could go downhill quick.
Chief Kickingstallionsims (C) - Not sure if the big man will make free agency but if he does the man still fills a role in the league. Wouldn't worry on length of the deal as his days are numbered, dollars could get crazy as the man is on his deathbed to trying to trick the software knowing he will only play a year or two max is a smart play.
Spencer Hawes (C) - Young man provides efficient offense but little more, still a valuable piece for a team in a reserve role.
Isaiah Austin (C) - A defensive force, one of the better big men defenders in the league. Age shouldn't hurt his value and a good fit for any offense in the league.
Manute Bol (C) - No longer the best defender in the league, he's still very good. Only an idiot would give up a top 5 pick for him but luckily for you BK is still around so you have an avenue to get out of this contract if you overspend.
Uros Slokar (C) - The software loves this dude. He just performs so you should pay the man.
Vin Baker (PF) - He was off to a blazing start on a roster limited in talent. As Fecta added pieces Baker leveled out and a move to the bench just landed him 6th man of the year. Not Great but not bad...
Ughh... I guess... Tier 3
Marvin Williams (SF) - Some like this man in the D/R Wing role, some aren't sold... Considering he was part of a roster that smoked me in the finals consider me a believer?
J.R. Rider (SG) - The man has shown life this season. Very interested on the open market what he will go for.
Allan Houston (SG) - Man some of the wings in this class... woof. Houston is solid but not special.
Luther Wright (C) - Wasn't a fan when selected and he's never really developed into anything special.
Shawn Bradley (C) - Who knows what Bradley is all about. Never really given playing time. His numbers look like the traditional D/R big slash. He has potential and probably worth the roll of the dice over someone like Wright.
Rodney Rogers (SF) - He flashed upside but neglected by Fecta you could have a diamond in the rough situation. Roll them dice... no snake eyes.
Bob Hurley (PG) - He's worked his ass off each off-season and improved. The ultimate hustler player this young man has done well in the starting roll. Not a max kid, but probably better than a MLE.
