Dailey is, uhhhhhh, quite the gamble to bring into your franchise if you're looking for harmony in your locker room. While he is a talented scorer who broke Bill Cartwright's record for most points in a season for a school who had some all-time greats come through, Dailey also brought about the end of the basketball program. He pleaded guilty (in his own words, to get the whole matter behind him while agreeing to no jail time) to sexually assaulting a nursing student in a dorm and in her testimony she claimed he threatened her with a weapon but did not rape her. He received three years probation. Documents in the case also revealed he had accepted money from a booster and this revelation was the straw that broke the camel's back for the program, finally shuttering their troubled program that had been on NCAA probation several years prior for rules violations.
Simply focusing on his on-court ability, Dailey's gift is the ability to score from the mid-range in. He has a very capable jumper and uses it well with a jab step in the face-up game and off the dribble. He can get to the rim and make some things happen in traffic and he handles contact well in the paint. The main problem is his competition level in the WCAC doesn't quite measure up to what he will face in TMBSL so he'll have to learn how to deal with more athletic defenders around the basket in a way he hasn't before. Fortunately, he does have a good handle and is fairly quick so he may have the ability to adjust to TMBSL competition. And since he's developed his scoring game in college to take advantage of weaker competition in the paint, he hasn't shown much development in the range on his jump shot to become a three point threat at the next level.
Outside of scoring, Dailey is a passable defender and rebounder. He won't shine in either regard but he's good enough at both to be in the rotation. He's a decent playmaker and passer but not enough to blossom into a point guard at the next level. His size is a bit of a limitation since it isn't elite for a 2 guard and he will struggle to switch onto some larger wings. His chaotic off-the-court issues also will likely hamper his long-term upside.
