The record for free throw attempts in a playoff is 2000 Shaquille O'Neal, who took 296 and made 135 for a cool 49.6%.
The next worst highest FTA with a worse % is #3, 2004 Shaquille O'Neal, who took 254 and made 109 for a crisp 42.9%
Next #21, 1970 Wilt Chamberlain, 82 of 202 for a brisk 40.6%
Next #37, 2006 Shaquille O'Neal, 68 of 182 to break the 40% line at 37.4%
.
Next we have to go allllll the way down to #791(!), 2006(!!) Ben Wallace, 18 of 66 to shatter the 30% line with 27%
Next we have to go allllllllllll the way down #3465, 2017 Andre Roberson, 3 of 17 to obliterate the 20% line with 14%
The next jump isn't that far, only down to #4276 and the year 1963 for Eugene "Gene" Wiley who put up a frigid 2 of 15 to stay in the teens with 13%
Remarkably, this record was tied soon after in 1968 by "Jumpin'" Joe Caldwell.
But only one man holds the worst record for 1 made free throwers: 2002's Greg "The Big O"stertag and his arctic 1 of 10 for...
anyone?
let's not see all the same hands
that's right class, 10% on the #5251 most FTA
.
And of course there's only one way to go from 1,
and it's with the #6070 most attempts,
and it's with 0 makes,
and it's #16 on your scorecards,
and it's #1 in your hearts,
Alfred,
"The Allie Cat",
"Tricky Dick the Knick McGuire's Brother"
Hall of Famer,
As a Coach,
McGuire
1953, 0 for 7, 0%
.
.
So what?
So my close personal friend Ben Simmons is currently sitting on 18 of 53 for 33.9%
If he takes less than 14 the rest of the playoffs, he can't do worse than fellow Ben, Wallace.
If he takes more, he's going to be extremely hard pressed to not do worse than The Big Aristotle.
At his current rate, he can lose two games without taking enough attempts to get there.
Funny coincidence that losing those two will have him going fishing.
Coincidence...
...or conspiracy?
