As we know, there are 29 teams in the league but 30 slots in the wheel, so this leads to one team getting an extra 1.1 during a 30 year cycle as a "vacant" team would get the 1.1 in the year that lucky team had their 1.2.

Most recently, ward's warriors were contracted, and dump opted for expansion. This resulted in Delap LOSING his extra 1.1, and Bankz was lucky enough to get an extra 1.1 because his WHEEL NEMESIS Ward left the league.

This is information I wanted to know and in the abstract may be worth a full 50k. But Ankly is on record saying that we overvote articles and I don't want to make him feel like he's taking advantage of the system.

You don't understand because you don't understand how the wheel is built.

You'd have to rebuild a 29 team wheel. The one built for the NBA has 30 slots. You can't just take the 30 slot out of the existing wheel and use that because then it super-unbalances a 6 year stretch of picks for teams because it's based on breaking up the 30 picks into 5 tiers of 6 picks.

So design a new, balanced one yourself.

I guess I don't understand why you can't just remove slot 30. There! 29 Team wheel!

Although there is benefit to the 30 team wheel so that someone like dump isn't forced to take a team that may have traded all their wheel picks.

On second thought, it would be better to remove slot 28 since it follows #3.  Still a shift but more palatable.

The wheel mirrors your picks so that when you get one super high pick you balance it with a low pick the next year. If you take 30 out of the existing wheel then after your #1 pick you then have 19 instead of 30. So when your #1 pick comes along, that now four year cycle instead of 5 year cycle you get super charged picks.

You can't switch to that now because it would severely disadvantage everyone who has already had their #1 pick and we already have a team occupying the #30 slot

So if we were to change the wheel midstream now, how would you:

1. Compensate the GM's that are disadvantaged because they've already cycled their now overpowered stretch of picks
2. Deal with expansion/contraction when a GM quits since that system is much cleaner with an extra slot? What happens when a new GM wants to expand but acquires a team where the GM has sold out a bunch of their future picks like Ward has done?

It's based on 6 groupings of 5 picks that have similar overall value and then balance over the cycle. It's a lot harder to balance when you take one out because then one grouping of four has to match the others and then several teams are on a smaller cycle than others...29 isn't an easy number to divide and split into groupings.
