A little picture for a little guy. Adams may slip on some draft boards because of his lack of size and his unconventional jump shot but he's a tenacious player and a coach on the floor. He may not have the upside of point guards with more prototypical size, but that doesn't mean he can't be a contributor at the next level.
Offensively, Adams has a very unconventional shooting stroke, becoming renowned for his "push shot" in the Big East, but it works. He's deadly from the mid-range and he's a very good free throw shooter. He's got the range to be a three point shooter at the next level and should be a threat in catch and shoot opportunities. He's a small guy with electric quickness who stops and starts on a dime. That quickness allows him to make up for his lack of height to create space to get his shot off and he elevates well on the jumper to square himself to make shots. He showed some ability to get into the lane and operate against much taller defenders in the Big East and actually plays very strong for his size, taking contact well and getting to the free throw line at a very good rate for a smaller guard. Adams didn't have much help at Boston College and had to focus more on creating for himself for others, so he'll need to continue to develop his point guard skills at the next level. Handle is solid but not great and could use improvement.
Defensively, Adams will be overmatched at time by the size of his opponents, but he uses his quickness well to be disruptive, getting hands on opponents' dribbles and disrupting passing lanes...he averaged nearly 3 steals a game for his final three seasons. While he may be bullied at times, those steals and fast break opportunities that result will make up for it. He will probably need to be matched against point guards or on a perimeter player that isn't much of an offensive threat to limit the damage his assignment can do in clutch time or big spots, but he shouldn't be too big of a liability most of the time in the flow of the game. Not a factor on the glass.
