Taking advantage of the Cinderella run to a national championship alongside teammate Juan Dixon, Wilcox jumps to the TMBSL draft as one of the younger players in the class and after really only one season of significant playing time at the college level, finally breaking through into the starting lineup at Maryland as they broke into conference play as a sophomore. Wilcox is most well known for his explosive leaping ability and thunderous dunks. Wilcox is an explosive athlete with a lot of potential.
Offensively, Wilcox is a huge threat around the rim as he has great hops and long arms and can seemingly dunk once he collects the ball anywhere near the paint. He's a little green on the block though and his low post skills mainly consist of a quick spin move and a short turnaround hook shot from either hand. He'll need to expand his low post game so that as he gets older he has other moves rather than the dunk to rely on. He's got soft hands and does an excellent job receiving the ball in traffic and while moving, should be a major threat as a pick and roll finisher. He's a great runner of the floor with great quickness and he's an exciting transition finisher. He can hit the jump shot out to 15 feet but that's the extent of his range and he needs to improve his consistency at the free throw line. He also needs to add upper body strength to deal to help finish better through contact.
Defensively, Wilcox has the tools to be a great shot blocker, with great length, leaping, and instincts. However, he's still a bit inconsistent and over-aggressive and that can lead to foul trouble. He's not great as he gets away from the rim as he has clunky footwork so despite his athleticism he has a hard time staying in front of defenders. He's a solid post defender but needs to continue to add strength to deal with larger bigs. He is a hustle player on the boards and really attacks the glass...great at getting to caroms out of position and won't let anyone out-effort him on either end on the boards.
