Capela may be the best athlete to come out of Europe directly to TMBSL so far. He's superbly explosive around the rim and he isn't scared of contact, playing much stronger than you'd expect him to on his 225 lb frame (which looks to be able to easily add even more good weight). He runs the floor really well and despite being what many would call a raw talent, he surprises scouts with flashes that make him seem far more advanced than you'd expect...but he still needs the time and coaching at the next level to further develop his basketball IQ.
Despite being a bit green, Capela already shows a great knack for finishing around the rim. He plays well above the rim and when he gets close to the basket, he'll finish emphatically with one or two hands off of one or two feet. He's also shown a fairly soft touch with layups and hook shots to finish around the rim when he can't slam it home. He can come in from day one and be a threat as a pick and roll finisher and he's surprised scouts with his ability to also pass the ball well out of tight spots, which you wouldn't expect from a guy with his lack of experience. The problem is that you'll need to limit his offense to simply doing this. He doesn't have much of a low post game and asking him to do too much will leave him frustrated and confused. As he learns the game and develops, he'll need to be asked to do several well-defined things and focus on doing those at a high level to be most effective. He's got no jump shot to speak of and certainly never projects to shoot from distance. Free throws are a work in progress but he's shown the desire to get better and his mechanics aren't completely broken, it's just a matter of repetitions. He has the athleticism to be an absolute terror as an offensive rebounder and will be in position to do so since he should operate in and around the paint most of the time.
Defensively, Capela has a ton of upside. He's long and rangy and has exceptional lateral quickness. While he can be a bit passive at times, scouts think he will adapt quickly to the more physical TMBSL game. He'll need to continue to add strength to fully capitalize on his natural talents, but he should become a very good shot-blocker as he's got the instincts and athleticism to be a great help-side threat. He also projects to be a tremendous threat in the rebounding game and with a bit more focus and hustle, should be able to become one of the best rebounders in TMBSL.
