PreSeason - Initial Rankings At first blush this group isn't stellar... and not deep either. Of course there are a boatload of upgrades about to happen before Sim 1, so things could change in a hurry. Turnovers abound and while there are good defenders, I don't see anyone that screams "ELITE!!!!" at me either.
1. Brook Lopez - Cleveland Cavaliers Strong scoring and rebounding, a well-rounded defender (1st in blocks and stocks), and a solid 4th in the class in P/TSA. He's the leader for now, but this is far from the iron grip we've seen from other past #1s.
2. Kevin Love - Los Angeles Clippers Not quite as efficient as you would want, but all of the raw stats are pretty solid. TOs can be an issue, averaging 3 per 36. I think we expected lower defensive stats from him, but they aren't bad... not great... but not bad!
3. Sean Singletary - Carolina Cougars Turnovers are a real issue, but the volume and efficiency can't be ignored. Leads all rookies in P/TSA.
4a. Robin Lopez - Seattle SuperSonics 4b. Serge Ibaka - Chicago Stags 4c. DeAndre Jordan - Minnesota Timberwolves 4d. Anthony Randolph - Atlanta Hawks These guys all get stuck together for now. All above average on the boards (all the way to borderline elite in DJ), all showing good, but not quite elite defensive numbers. None of them are terribly efficient, but only Randolph among them would be considered inefficient. DJ just doesn't shoot all, so all of his uppies will likely further push his defensive/rebounding dominance. Upgrades will likely blow this cluster apart by Day 40.
8. Eric Gordon - Vancouver Grizzlies He wants to shoot the ball, and you can't teach that (in Sim, at least). Up the efficiency a tad and he could be a real player.
9. Ryan Anderson - Milwaukee Bucks Low volume may be his doom, but he's super efficient and has surprisingly solid defensive numbers. His rebounding is weak... but he doesn't turn it over much at all, so it balances out a bit.
10. Derrick Rose - Charlotte Hornets TOs are a big issue... maybe he should play SG for now? Aside from that... he's a decently efficient scorer. Rebounding is a little disappointing though.
Honorable Mentions:
Points: Russell Westbrook - Phoenix Suns (though I have doubts that he'd keep TOs low enough if he were actually playing PG in the PS)
Wings: Anthony Morrow - Los Angeles Clippers Michael Beasley - Orlando Magic Joe Crawford - Orlando Magic Sonny Weems - Vancouver Grizzlies
Bigs: Darrell Arthur - Phoenix Suns J.J. Hickson - Charlotte Bobcats Omer Asik - Charlotte Hornets Maarty Leunen - Philadelphia 76ers Timofey Mozgov - Texas Chaparrals Semih Erden - Pittsburgh Pipers Alexis Ajinca - Toronto Raptors

Day 40 UpdateThings are coming together. Top 2 are well clear of the field... 3-10 can really be in any order, so don't be too offended right now. Any of the HM bigs could easily be on the ladder next update. I gave deference to a few wings over the bigs because of positional scarcity. 1. Brook Lopez - Cleveland Cavaliers (previous:1)Narrowly ahead of KLove by virtue of minuscule TOs (less than 1 per 36!), 1st in P/TSA, Top 5 in blocks... and no discernible weaknesses. 2. Kevin Love - Los Angeles Clippers (previous: 2)1st in scoring, Top 5 in rebounding, defensive numbers that aren't stellar but are not disqualifying, Top 5 in P/TSA. Turnovers aren't amazing, but not terrible either. 3. Anthony Randolph - Atlanta Hawks (previous: 4d)Another player with a solid skillset across the board, Randolph looks good so far this season. His FT shooting is the only real fly in the ointment... but everything else is pretty promising. 4a. Michael Beasley - Orlando Magic (previous: HM) 4b. Joe Alexander - Washington Bullets (previous: NR) 4c. Eric Gordon - Vancouver Grizzlies (previous: 8)Very efficient wing scorers who don't bring a ton on defense. Beasley is an above average rebounder for a wing and that puts him right above Joe A and Eric G for now. TOs are a slight issue for both Beasley and Alexander, though. Gordon is a more positive defensive player right now, due to steals. 7. Serge Ibaka - Chicago Stags (previous: 4b)Fairly efficient, strong on the glass. Not a volume scorer, though. His TO rate and solid FT% are reasons for continued optimism. 8. Roy Hibbert - Atlanta Hawks (previous: NR)Mr. Atlanta back at it again in 6.0... Defensive numbers could be better... and the FT% is woeful, but his current production and overall P/TSA are very solid. 9a. Danilo Gallinari - Carolina Cougars (previous: NR) 9b. Marreese Speights - Milwaukee Bucks (previous: NR)#s 3 and 4 in P/TSA in the class, both with very low TO rate... but neither is a strong rebounder for their position and neither appears to be able to produce at high volume. Honorable Mentions:
Points: Sean Singletary - Carolina Cougars Goran Dragic - Portland Trail Blazers Russell Westbrook - Phoenix Suns Brian Roberts - Charlotte Bobcats
Wings: Anthony Morrow - Los Angeles Clippers Patrick Ewing Jr. - Atlanta Hawks Courtney Lee - Indiana Pacers
Bigs: Salah Mejri - Brooklyn Nets Alexis Ajinca - Toronto Raptors Darrell Arthur - Phoenix Suns Nathan Jawai - Charlotte Bobcats Robin Lopez - Seattle SuperSonics J.J. Hickson - Charlotte Bobcats DeAndre Jordan - Minnesota Timberwolves Semih Erden - Pittsburgh Pipers

Mekel can't get a honorable mention when he's 2nd in the league in assist per game?

Day 90 UpdateA day late and a dollar short, but I'm here anyway. Hope you all enjoyed the weekend... and without further ado, your ladder update: I see 12 guys here that I want to put on the ladder, so apologies to Serge Ibaka and Robin Lopez, better luck next time. Only 1 new entrant (Mejri) this time, so the rest is just re-ordering. 1. Brook Lopez - Cleveland Cavaliers (previous: 1)Still leading the 2-horse race, BroLo is 1st in P/TSA, 4th in scoring, 5th in blocks, and a solid rebounder to boot. His TOs are impossibly minuscule given his usage rate. 2. Kevin Love - Los Angeles Clippers (previous: 2)1st in scoring, 2nd in rebounding, 3rd in P/TSA. Defensive numbers aren't great, but at least he tries (unlike IRL KLove). TOs are a touch high, but aren't crazy given his usage. 3. Anthony Randolph - Atlanta Hawks (previous: 3)Often overlooked by his bigger name teammate and the rookies ahead of him, but not here on the Rookie Ladder! Randolph is putting together an elite freshman campaign. He really doesn't have a weakness, he takes care of the ball better than Love, rebounds and defends slightly better than BroLo, but the scoring volume and efficiency is not at their level... but still quite good! 4a. Michael Beasley - Orlando Magic (previous: 4a) 4b. Joe Alexander - Washington Bullets (previous: 4b)Great-to-elite potential wing scorers who also rebound well, Beasley and Alexander are quite similar. Neither gives you much on defense, both turn it over a tad too much, but you still want them on your squad. Both would need some natural growth from the FT line to reach elite status... so their owners need to pray for a rare big TC boost in that area. 6. Roy Hibbert - Atlanta Hawks (previous: 8)I don't love the TOs, I don't love the lack of blocks, I don't love the FT%... but he is a volume scorer and is efficient despite his abysmal shooting from 15'. If can solidly improve one of those 3 areas he will be a Top 15 center in the league... but that honestly may not happen. 7. Eric Gordon - Vancouver Grizzlies (previous: 4c)Just a little less efficient than last update, dropping him below Beas/Alexander, but he is still solidly above the next wing (Gallo). His stealing could tick up naturally thanks to his position and his TOs are not a real problem. 8a. Marreese Speights (previous: 9b) 8b. Salah Mejri (previous: HM)Efficient (2nd and 6th in P/TSA, respectively) scorers on good (not elite) volume, these two play a little (not a lot) of defense and also take care of the rock. Mejri is a very very slightly disappointing rebounder, though, so he falls below Crazy Old Marreese. 10. Danilo Gallinari - Carolina Cougars (previous: 9b)Efficient and doesn't turn it over... but that's about it. You would really want to see more volume, rebounding, or defense to get really excited about Gallo. Honorable Mentions:
Points: Gal Mekel - Philadelphia 76ers Russell Westbrook - Phoenix Suns Sean Singletary - Carolina Cougars
Wings: Anthony Morrow - Los Angeles Clippers Luc Mbah a Moute - Toronto Raptors Courtney Lee - Indiana Pacers J.R. Giddens - Philadelphia 76ers Nicolas Batum - Seattle SuperSonics
Bigs: Serge Ibaka - Chicago Stags Robin Lopez - Seattle SuperSonics Nathan Jawai - Charlotte Bobcats J.J. Hickson - Charlotte Bobcats Darrell Arthur - Phoenix Suns Omer Asik - Charlotte Hornets DeAndre Jordan - Minnesota Timberwolves Semih Erden - Pittsburgh Pipers

Final UpdateCongratulations to Sapular for winning. skrouse , please transer 1k from my bank to his. Lopez and Love are a class above the rest... and I'd probably put Randolph in his own tier right now, though one of the wings (Alexander/Beas) could easily hit the TC they need to vault up. Couple of minor changes from the last update, but this class has been remarkably stable from start to finish in their outputs. 1. Brook Lopez - Cleveland Cavaliers (previous: 1)Should be a perennial MVP contender for the bulk of his career. Lopez is basically a perfect center. 2. Kevin Love - Los Angeles Clippers (previous: 2)Leading scorer among rookies, 3rd in P/TSA, and an elite rebounder. TOs and defense are no comparison to BroLo, though. 3. Anthony Randolph - Atlanta Hawks (previous: 3)Doing his best BroLo impersonation, Randolph has great output across the board for a rookie, but he's a clear step down from the Top 2, but clearly above all the other bigs in the class. 4. Michael Beasley - Orlando Magic (previous: 4a)Finally alone and ahead of Alexander. He's 2nd in the class in P/TSA and is proving to be an elite rebounder on the wing. 5. Joe Alexander - Washington Bullets (previous: 4b)Slightly less efficient, slightly worse rebounding version of Beasley... and his scoring output might be slightly goosed from being on a bad team. 6. Roy Hibbert - Atlanta Hawks (previous: 6)Defensive numbers and TOs are very slightly improved since the last update, which is encouraging. 7. Eric Gordon - Brooklyn Nets (previous: 7)Solid scoring guard who could turn into a + stealer of the ball. Still has +15 in upgrades to improve, too. 8. Danilo Gallinari - Carolina Cougars (previous: 10)I want him to shoot more. 20s wants him to shoot more. He's very efficient and doesn't turn it over, though. Defensively he's not much to be excited about. 9. Robin Lopez - Seattle SuperSonics (previous: HM)Our lone newcomer, RoLo has slowly grown on me all season. He's clearly not his brother, but he is a solid all-around center, rebounds well, plays great D, and doesn't hurt you in any way. I prefer him (barely) to the higher scoring bigs that don't rebound or defend as well. 10. Marreese Speights - Milwaukee Bucks (previous: 8a)The best of the rest among high output bigs, landing just ahead of Ibaka and Mejri. Speights is hyper-efficient (4th in P/TSA among rookies) and doesn't turn it over. Defense and rebounding both need to improve. Honorable Mentions:
Points: Gal Mekel - Philadelphia 76ers Russell Westbrook - Phoenix Suns Sean Singletary - Carolina Cougars
Wings: Anthony Morrow - Los Angeles Clippers J.R. Giddens - Philadelphia 76ers Patrick Ewing Jr. - Atlanta Hawks Luc Mbah a Moute - Toronto Raptors Courtney Lee - Indiana Pacers
Bigs: Serge Ibaka - Chicago Stags Salah Mejri - Brooklyn Nets Nathan Jawai - Charlotte Bobcats Walter Sharpe - Carolina Cougars J.J. Hickson - Charlotte Bobcats Darrell Arthur - Phoenix Suns DeAndre Jordan - Minnesota Timberwolves Joey Dorsey - Miami Heat Semih Erden - Pittsburgh Pipers
