21. Chicago Bulls- John Calipari 4 PG 6'2'' 180 20 0 C- B, A- D, D, B,
seems like the worst pick so far. pretty good handles but depressing everything else. he's young, on a long contract, and has B pot so maybe there hope after all but to me this is the single worse pick yet.
Grade: F-
22. Dallas Mavericks- Moala Tautuaa 5 C 6'8'' 249 33 0 B+ C, B, C- B- C
Really interesting player that i had hoped would be there if I had managed to keep my 2nd round pick but soup's a smart guy and likely saw the same thing I did. I'm not sure he has the ability to be a superstar but he could easily be the 2nd/3rd option on a title team. Big fan of however you pronounce his name, I'm very bad at polynesian names. Regardless, very good pick for this slot
Grade: B+
23. Los Angeles Clippers- Pee Wee Kirkland 3 PG 6'1'' 200 35 13 B, C, A, C, D+ F,
Honestly just a superb looking player. I knew that one of the two of us would take Mitchell and the other would take Pee Wee. I'm still unconvinced which one is better but we will find out soon enough. Pee Wee is on a shorter deal and has F pot, so retirement insurance will come into play a bit sooner than it will Mitchell however Pee Wee could easily be better. Big, big fan.
Grade: A
24. Carolina Cougars (via Charlotte Bobcats)- Chief Kickingstallionsims 1 C 7'1'' 265 26 1 C+ C- D+ C+ C+ B,
A+++++ pick solely because of his name. Also he seems to be a very good d/r big who is relatively young with B pot. A 1 year contract gives a bit of concern but like i've said before proper soft cap management can prevent him from going elsewhere. Even a 1 year, 15m contract probably locks him up just to see how he progresses further so we'll know if he is actually worth a long term deal.
Grade: A+++++
25. Pittsburgh Pipers- Serio Llull 5, PG, 6'3", 190, 21, 0, C-, B-, A-, C, D, B, Spain
I feel like I remember Sergio Llull being a bust in 5.0 but I could have been high. This is a high passing PG with a reasonable amount of turnovers, not to mention a rookie on a 5 year deal with B pot. B- outside is promising while C- inside is concerning, but that's what upgrades are for. I predict Llull to a very good PG for a long time in 6.0.
Grade: B+
26. Los Angeles Clippers (via Brooklyn Nets)- Kyle Hines 5 PF 6'7'' 245 33 12 C+ C- C, B+ A- C,
This is easily one of my favorite picks in the draft and I damn dirt for being able to trade back into the 1st to grab him. A steals, B blocks, and A- rebounds means this is probably the best, or at least one of the best, d/r bigs in the league. Most of the others have absolutely abysmal grades, unlike Hines. However, what even is the value of a d/r big anyway. He is pretty old though.
Grade: B+
27. New York Knicks (via Los Angeles Lakers via Minnesota Timberwolves)- Kenny George 4 C 7'8'' 370 24 2 C, D+ F+ C- C, B,
Seems like some good production with absolutely ass grades. Not sure what to think about this one but he's pretty young, on a long deal, and had decent pot. I really don't have much to say about this guy at the moment as he is definitely wait and see guy. That being said, I'm a big fan of George and hope he does well.
Grade: ???
28. Atlanta Hawks- Devin Williams 5 PF 6'9'' 255 26 5 C+ C, D+ C, A- C,
Looks like a safe pick here. Long deal, but if he doesn't work out thats an amnesty. C pot, 5 years, one grade A- or higher. BUT his stat grades are pretty damn good so what the fuck do I know. I'm going to give this guy a mediocre grade so JHB can talk shit when I'm wrong.
Grade: C
29. Toronto Raptors- Luke Recker 3 SG 6'6'' 210 28 7 C+ B+ D+ C- D+ C
Now this is a pick. One of the best shooters in the class in both volume and efficiency, and by efficiency I mean efficiency from an outside shooter. C potential is a big discouraging but the guy is 28 after all so it could be much worse. Really big fan of this guy and that will be reflected by my grade.
Grade: B+
Round Two
1. Toronto Raptors- Walter Magnifico 2 C 6'11'' 232 33 13 C C C+ C B C
Delap made a fantastic pick at 1.29 and then did this at 2.1. I don't get it. This guy is old and doesn't do much but block and rebound, and I personally think sim blocks are an aberration. I probably would have gone with another outside shooting wing, not that there really are that many left. The draft pool is getting pretty shallow already tbh, so perhaps I should be a bit nice with my grade. lmao nahhhh
