Disappointingly, we were robbed of the chance of being able to see Kanter perform in game action against collegiate athletes because of archaic rules about amateurism from the NCAA. But Kanter projects to be a low-post scoring machine at the next level.
Kanter is thick and strong and he's a good enough athlete to be able to bully All-TMBSL caliber defenders in the paint. He plays with a high motor on the offensive end and he relishes finishing with contact. He has a really well-developed Basketball IQ and shows an instinct for finding a way to get in position to score around the restricted area. He has excellent body control and moves well with the ball in his possession from the low post. He's got a diverse assortment of moves to finish and has a soft touch to convert them. Scouts frequently describe him as smooth. While he's a bully with the ball in his hands, he takes it up a notch when he's hunting for offensive boards and he will likely be among the elite offensive rebounders on Day 1 in TMBSL. He also has a very smooth shooting stroke and will be a threat from mid-range, especially when defenders try to cheat to defend against him attacking the paint.
One of the biggest questions about Kanter is the health of his knees and how they'll hold up (and how his athleticism will hold up) under the rigor of the TMBSL workload. While his athleticism will play offensively, he may be exposed on defense because of his poor lateral quickness. He also doesn't have the length of other defenders in this class (or the hops) and does not project to be a threat to block shots at all. He is not very engaged on defense most times and tends to play very passively until there is an opportunity to clean up the glass.
