first round of thoughts and questions:
1. what planet am i on?
2. how can people even think being around so many other people constantly?
3. why is the city so big?
4. why are the streets so narrow?
5. how can there possible be enough children for this many schools?
6. i am not comfortable driving on city streets at the speed everyone else is.
7. these are not beaches. that is not sand. its dirt piled next to a lake. visually similar to a beach, functionally similar to a beach, but its not a beach.

move there for any reason in particular or just for a new start? know anyone there irl? living situation? i wouldnt say its for a new start. i never wanted to stay and alabama, theres too much world to see, but various things have prevented me from leaving until now. a good friend has been up here for a year or so going to depaul. so the two of us, and a couple we're friends with got an apartment. its...fine. fine enough for how late in the process we started looking. conveniently, a completely different set of circumatances has led to another close friend inheriting a house up here, so he and his wife are moving up later this month. suddenly a decent percentage of a large friend group are in chicago. very strange imo. |

I remember Tornado siren tests during certain times of the year in the suburbs. But nothing like that in the city.

They test the nuclear fallout sirens every once in a while near my mom's. Thanks a lot, New Jersey

Ah ok, don't have that here in FL
we don't have frequent tornadoes... and we can see hurricanes coming for a while.
However... FSU does have tornado sirens and they just test them once a year (same day as testing the fire alarms and stuff)
