The state of our sim league is strong.
I'm pleased with the level of activity and very pleasantly surprised with the GM retention we've had so far. With activity comes friction, and while we can do better there I think for the most part we've kept it appropriate. Good work, everyone!
As the fifth sim season comes to a close we have enough data now to identify areas we could potentially improve. This is going to be a series of posts covering:
-box score rewards and assistant coaches
-rookie classes
-positional balance and fractional titles by focus
.
Box score rewards are being aimed towards 20k per team per season, and aimed so that teams get about 40% from points and about 60% split evenly among rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and the combos (20/20 triple double etc.). Here are the current and updated values:
These values returned 37% of the rewards to points, 15% to rebounds, 12% to assists, 12% to steals, 11% to blocks, and 14% to combos. When applied to this season, the minimum return was 1200 and the maximum was 49200. The distribution is extremely non-normal so I'm not that concerned that the average is 11k, but we'll see how it goes.
.
The director of scouting's limit on discounts is being increased from four scouts to seven scouts. This maximum return of 35k is higher than the average social media consultant return of 11k but it also requires an expenditure of 105k so I think that's alright. Additionally, we are cutting back scout trading so that scouts can only be traded for scouts.
.
The sports scientist is being adjusted such that a team that hires a sports scientist cannot trade away their upgrades in the same season, and a team that has traded away their upgrades in a given season cannot hire a sports scientist. This is being implemented for any trades starting right now, so for example the Bobcats can hire an upgrades coach in 3005 since they traded their 3005 upgrade points before this post, but if the Bobcats trade their 3008 upgrade points in five minutes, they cannot hire a sports scientist in 3008.
.
.
My expectation is that these changes bring these three assistant coaches into parity with each other, and make box scores a more attractive event.
In the coming days we'll continue the state of the sim league. Thanks for reading! :D
