 First off, we can see that the league is still becoming more and more offensive leaning as the seasons pass. In 3004, we are now up to 120.4 points per possession across the league, which once again would set a 6.0 high water mark. This increase is smaller than any of the previous increases we have seen so perhaps growth is starting to slow down and we will see things level off sometime in the future. O Rtg and D Rtg (points per 100 possessions)
 Things that jump out:- As we knew from the previous chart, offenses just keep getting better and defenses cannot keep up. The Bobcats and Pacers are the only teams with defenses better than last year's 76ers. A good defense in 3004 allows more points than a good defense from previous seasons.
- The 76ers and Chaps are scoring more points per possession than any of the previous champions.
- The Hornets offense is extremely bad. They aren't even close to any of the other teams.
- The Sonics defense is extremely bad. They are much worse than any other team.
O Rank and D Rank Things that stand out:- When we look by rank, we are reminded that 3 of the 4 champions in 6.0 have been the #1 offense in the league. Right now the 76ers have the #1 offense.
- Out of the top 5 offenses (76ers, Chaps, Bucks, Cougars, and Warriors), only the 76ers and Warriors are anywhere close to the 11th ranked defense which is the previous low for a champion (00 Mavs).
- The Nets have the defensive chops and their O Rank of 6th would tie with the 01 Grizz for worst O Rank to win it all.
- While the Bobcats and Pacers set the pace defensively, they lag behind at only 12th and 18th in offense.
O Rtg+ and D Rtg+ (how good you are compared to league average)
Things that jump out:- While the 76ers and Warriors D Rank was worse than the 00 Mavs, they are actually better compared to league average than the Mavs were.
- The Nets and Warriors actually rank below all previous champs offensively at about only 6.5% better than a league average offense. This chart says only the 76ers, Chaps, Bucks and Cougars have what would previously have been a championship level offense.
- Even though the raw numbers are worse as the league becomes more offensive, the Bobcats and Pacers defenses are more dominant than any previous championship defense.
Even with 1/3 of the season in the books, these numbers will likely change greatly as we move through the season.  |

 O Rtg and D Rtg About to get rid of this chart, or maybe just remove the previous champs, it doesn't work for comparing across seasons at this point.

My computer restarted and I hadn’t saved so I was having to redo some stuff and missed that. The graphs are all accurate but the Ranks table is wrong. |

O Rtg+ and D Rtg+ O Rank and D Rank Raw O Rtg and D Rtg It's Cut Day! I cut down to 11 teams as the 'contenders' who either had a defense better than the worst defense to win a title or an offense better than the worst offense to win a title. The Raptors and Pipers technically qualified for this based on their defense, but their offenses are way down the line and neither is even in the playoffs, so  Those 11 teams:- Carolina Cougars
- Brooklyn Nets
- Philadelphia 76ers
- Indiana Pacers
- Charlotte Bobcats
- Chicago Bulls
- Texas Chaparrals
- Golden State Warriors
- Minnesota Timberwolves
- Los Angeles Lakers
- Milwaukee Bucks
Let's see how they compare to each other in some important categories.
- This year, no team is in 1st in more than two categories.
- The Chaps lead with being top 2 in 5 categories.
- The Cougars lead with being top 4 in 7 categories.
- The Bucks are last in 5 of 11 categories.
- The Lakers do not rank higher than 6th in any category amongst contenders.
 Next, let's look at how they have fared against each other in head to head matchups.Head to Head Records:  - Perhaps shockingly, the 76ers have a losing record against the other contenders. Only the Bulls are worse.
- The Chaps and Cougars are both .700 or better. The Warriors join them to form a trio above .500, the only 3 teams with winning records.
 - The Bobcats have only played 9 games against the fellow East contenders so far. They have a ton of big games in the last 30 days.
- Some West teams have played more games against the East contenders than the Bobcats and they only play East teams twice a season.
