This class is looking pretty rough early outside of the top 3. I expect a few of the guys who didn't make it to eventually creep their way back in, but we're seeing a number of players who made the Rookie Ladder get off to a slow start.

Summary: Really, really bad at scoring but really, really good at defending and grabbing boards. I'm not sure an upgrades reset would be worth it, but I think if you could sacrifice a rebound per-36 in favor of getting those TOs below two, you do it. Looks a lot like Jawann Oldham (and perhaps an insight into how Eric will continue to build non-profile guys with a shot blocking strength).

Summary: Richard has maintained the efficiency we saw as a rookie and cut back on turnovers, though that may be a fluke as he didn't receive any handling upgrades during the offseason. If they stay down, he ought to move up the rankings. No defense to speak of and average rebounding puts a ceiling on him, however.

Nice find for the Bucks and should be a starting SG in the league for a long time.

Summary: Solid efficiency and average rebounding and turnovers. Steal numbers look nice, but he did the same thing to start off his rookie season before seeing that number drop as the season progressed. Likely never going to be much of a defender, but efficient big men will always have a place in the league, especially ones that can also score a little bit in an outside offense.

4. Greg Oden - Golden State Warriors

The only real weakness in Gasol's game is rebounding, but it's also not a strength for Horford, so if Gasol can capitalize on his immense potential he has a chance to be the better player.

Unlike those two, however, he doesn't combine it with elite efficiency. He's only average in that category but still has enough volume that he may be considered a liability overall as he takes shots from more efficient players like Dudley and Brooks.

Summary: Durant makes a nice little jump and should end up being a solid contributor for the T-Wolves for a long time. Lack of positional versatility hurts as he's locked in at SF, but he's a decent defender and rebounder and above average scorer who would see a big leap in the rankings if he could up his 3pt% just a tad.

After seeing his build, it seems pretty shocking, and he may end up being the most valuable player from this class due to his strengths - rebounding, defense, turnovers - that are not accompanied by any true weaknesses, assuming his scoring holds up.

Summary: Really stands out as a rebounder with the ability to play small forward or shooting guard, but other than that, he looks like a pretty run of the mill inside scoring small forward. Outside game is pretty meh, turnovers are average, no defense. Dudley is a good player, but I think we're starting to see a lot of players like him in the league, albeit with maybe 1.5 fewer rebounds per 36.

Summary: Second in the entire league in pts/tsa, Fazekas has slowly risen in the rankings and supplants Dudley, who has been #3 since his Rookie Ladder days. He doesn't do anything else particularly well, though his turnovers are fine. Rebounding is below average (like the two in front of him) and defense is rough, but that efficiency is a beautiful thing.

The only hole in Gasol's game is rebounding, which seems to be the case for many bigs in this class.

Offers slightly more rebounding and turnovers and slightly less defense than the big man at #2, but all of that seems within the range of noise, so I consider them essentially the same in those categories.
