1. What are your early thoughts on "enhanced non-profile player builds" ?
Tim: It seems like it'll be a sort of hybrid between profile and non-profile, but I'm not entirely sure how the process plays out. Once the five(?) enhanced guys are decided, does Eric then take a vote on which attributes are their strengths and weaknesses? Or does he just decide on that himself? Whatever the process ends up being, it seems like it'll give us five(?) more unique players in each class, which is always a good thing.
BK: Not really sure what it is. It seems like it could be a cool idea. But it doesnt solve the fundamental problem of profile players getting fucked relative to nonprofile players. But eric hears what he wants to, so this is what we get.
Sap: I think it is putting a band-aid on a gaping wound. It looks nice, it does help...a little, but in the end it doesn't change anything. The real issue is that people, have tendencies, and as much as we try and avoid them or say we don't, we do. Eric, by in large does a great job of builds. The issue is to make them more varied would require significantly more work and I can understand and agree on why it isnt done. It would be tedious work with little to no pay off. My thoughts are it is nice but won't really change anything
Majic: I really like the general idea of it and think we can dial it in a bit more. I think the easiest we make things the more likely it is to stick. Ultimately we all want the same thing, and that's to get more varied builds for the non-profile builds. Things are pretty stale and everyone knows what those players look like. Getting more variety overall is always best in my opinion.
kc: I think it will be interesting to see how things turn out. I don't necessarily have a problem with how things have been in the past. But, cool for eric to explore new ideas.
2. Does Dirt actually trade LeBron this season?
Tim: No, I don't think so. I don't think he will until LeBron is borderline retirement age, if ever. If he was really intrigued by the idea of moving him, I think he'd inquire about my 1.1 this draft.
BK: I see him trading LBJ to heebs out of spite
Sap: Simply put no. What will happen is that he will end up letting him walk at the end of the contract, LeBron retires or he gets traded in a year or two. I do not think he gets moved.
Majic: No, I am skeptical if he ever trades him and I wouldn't blame him. Lebron still has multiple years left of elite level play and I doubt he ever gets the appropriate value for him. There is a scenario where I see him getting a top 5ish pick in a few years and finally parting with him.
kc: I thought that he would. But it looks like he's being selective on who he would even trade him to. If he did, I think it would have to be a complete garbage team that threw in 1-3 top 3 picks.
3. If anything, what needs to be done to revitalize 6.0?
Tim: Eh, I don't think there's much. Excitement wanes over the 50ish seasons that each iteration lasts and this is no different. We had a good 30ish seasons and now people are riding it out. They'll gradually pay less and less attention until the very end and then when 7.0 launches, probably enter with a new level of excitement.
BK: Starting the process for beginning 7.0, 6.0's goose is cooked
Sap: *Declined to comment on this question.*
Majic: I honestly don't know that there is anything that could "save" 6.0 at this point. There is no way that any of the older GM's are going to return to this iteration and I do not foresee any major changes that we could institute. Even for me 7.0 doesnt seem to have the same enthusiasm or allure that 6.0 had. I think we see an influx of returning GM's but it quickly falls off. I personally think we need some major changes in 7.0, whether thats a new software or changing some of the fundamental rules of the league. I would love to try out a new software to create something unknown
kc: I don't think there really is anything that needs to be urgently changed. This is my first time in a sim league so I think once you get this deep into the seasons its always gonna have some dropoff. Excited to see if we can get a full GM list for 7.0 though!
4. What is your Top 6 Power Rankings for 3037?
Tim: 1. Cougars
2. Pacers
3. Mavericks
4. Grizzlies
5. SuperSonics
6. Braves
BK: 1. Jazz
2. Pacers
3. Mavericks
4. Cougars
5. Braves
6. No one else has a chance. Maybe Druce
Sap: 1. Braves - Solid roster top to bottom
2. Cougs - 20s has the formula down and it is all about keeping it that way
3. Trailblazers - very good team, missing one piece IMO
4. Mavs - LeBron
5. Pacers - Heebs also has the formula but is missing one player
6. Jazz - BK is good at this and it makes sense
Majic: Mavs
Pacers
Cougars
Jazz
Blazers
Braves
All of these teams offer completely different styles and I will be curious to see how the season shakes out. I imagine that it will come down to the top 4 teams I have listed as all 4 of them have stellar squads. The Grizzlies made a long shot run to the Conference Finals last year but I anticipate things going chalk in the playoffs this year for the top 4 teams.
kc: 1. Pacers
2. Mavericks
3. Cougars
4. Jazz
5. Braves
6. Cavaliers
5. With our first batch of college stats what player(s) have caught your eye so far?
Tim: As the owner of 1.1, I like to think I'm something of an expert on this question. I think the only real options at 1.1 are Curry and Harden. Curry's scoring is dynamite in every way, so if his turnovers are fixable, then he seems to be the choice. The only way Harden overtakes him is if Steph's turnovers are beyond repair and he's a hidden gem/has way more potential or something like that.
BK: They all seem garbage to me (except curry). With pick 4 i will almost certainly be stuck with a nonprofile player as the best option. What a wonderful league
Sap: Curry but only because he turns the ball over A LOT. I also like Blake Griffin. He could be very good.
Majic: Curry and Harden are the most intriguing players in this class to me. Curry looks outstanding even if the TO's will be a bit of a problem. his scoring numbers are unreal and you can likely utilize your upgrades on his handling without worrying about it affecting his scoring. Harden is similar in that his scoring looks good but he has some turnover issues. I don't think you will have to invest too much into his handling but it will still need to attention. Blake Griffin looks solid even if he doesn't have any big defensive stats. Otherwise the big position doesn't seem to have an all around high level player like the last couple draft classes have had.
kc: I haven't really dove deep into it because I don't have a top pick. But at a quick glance I like Curry despite his horrific TOs, and Harden would also probably be in my top 3. Outside of those two I think the drop off looks big.
6. As of Sim 2, Heebs is the frac leader, is this the year the Pacers bring home their 2nd Ship?
Tim: They certainly have a very good chance, but I'd take the field. The Pacers are solid all around but should receive plenty of competition from the rest of the top six that I named above. He gets very limited scoring from his wings, so I'll be curious to see if that ends up becoming a bigger issue down the line
BK: I think he has a great chance this year. However, his achilles heel is playing in the finals, so I think he loses a close one to the Jazericks.
Sap: I don't think so. I think in the end it just wont be a deep enough roster. I think he will make a run but ultimately lose in the conference finals.
Majic: This looks to be one of Heebs most complete teams and I expect him to make a run to the finals. Ultimately it comes down to RNG and I think that Heebs will finally get some good luck and take home another title.
kc: I think Heebs has a good shot this year, they are stout! I'd like to see the Braves take the Pacers and the Cougs out this year and win their 3rd Title!
7. What retired 6.0 GM do you wish would come back?
Tim: Skrouse. He was active in Shout, active in the trade market, and active with board duties. I was surprised when he left and have been surprised that he hasn't even really sniffed coming back.
BK: Soup. He's funny and nice. He's also dramatic, which is nice because its hard carrying the leagues drama all by myself. Unfortunately he follows through on his threats to quit when eric does something lame.
Sap: I really like Trofie and think he is good for the league. I think he is good at Sim, and brings good conversation to Shout.
Majic: Skrouse would be my #1 pick as he was a solid guy, active in shout and brought some good ideas. I personally think his stock market introduction was one of the coolest, and unique, additions to the league. We need more stuff like that around here and I think he would bring it.
kc: It would be bankz or Trofie for me. Bankz because I miss reading the daily Bk and bankz drama in shout lol. And Trofie because he is a good GM and easy to trade with.
8. Who wins in a UFC style fight Billy or Eric?
Tim: Eric. He does Kina workouts while Billy is smoking weed.
BK: It would depend on the date, and whether I could train for it or not. I've been injured most of the year with really bad elbow/nerve issues that radiate down into my hands. I'm not a big UFC/MMA guy, so I'm not familiar with all the rules, I don't know if joint locks and that type of thing is typically frowned upon, as most of my previous training in fighting has been Aikido. The main issue with using Aikido in a fight against eric, is there aren't many Aikido moves you can do successfully that don't result in some real damage (armbars etc.), and I don't really want to hurt eric. If kicking is allowed, it could also be potentially devastating for eric as I know he has poor knees and it'd be pretty hard to deflect a hard kick to the knee without sustaining some other type of damage. I think eric would be most likely to beat me in a boxing style match, as I'm not a big puncher and the aforementioned elbow issues. Though its possible I could be paralyzed by fear when walks into the ring
Sap: If it ends up IN the ring, Billy wins. However, I can see a scenario in which Eric takes Billy out even prior to the "main event" in some freak accident. Now we would never find out it was Eric for sure but we would all know that it was Eric.
Majic: Billy and its not even a question. Eric is likely the type of person that would avoid a physical altercation stronger than almost anything so I do not think he would be any good in a fight. Billy has some spunk to him and I wouldn't be surprised to see him fight dirty.
kc: I think that eric reluctantly enters the ring dreading this but he realized bk isn't there to play and eric just comes at bk like a mad man. Also knowing that bk has a toe issue Eric targets that side of billy with some good stomps and leg kicks. I think it goes the distance and we see a new eric born licking the blood off the gloves bj penn style.
Tim: It seems like it'll be a sort of hybrid between profile and non-profile, but I'm not entirely sure how the process plays out.
