I like the top 5 of the 06 draft more than what my likely options are at 7th in 05, don't want to be at a place where BPA is Lindsey Hunter at 7th after drafting CP3 in 04. 5th pick in 06 more likely to get me a wing or a big and they'll be younger than the 05 guys (18/19 compared to 20-22)

This isn't a good move for Majic. Maybe he hits on those picks and this deal looks better down the road. Currently this is a steal for Ian

Majic gets a lotto pick and a 2.1 to drop 2 spots in a later draft. I can see not liking it for one GM or another, but it is not a steal. The higher the pick is always the better route. |

It’s funny because I actually like the 3005 class better than the 3006 class, so that was a driving factor. Plus I will have 1.7 and 1.8 in that draft, gives me double the chance to hit on a pick or more assets to move.
Also, let’s not act like I’m moving out of a top 2 pick, it’s going from 5 to 7. Sure, the higher the pick the better but I like the package of assets I got to move back a 2 spots and still stay in the lottery.

moving from a 5 pick to a 7 pick can be very risky but it's hard to tell right now. Personally I'd rather keep the top 5 pick because I'm not a fan of picks past the top 10.

I think Majic wins.
Trying to predict how draft classes will unfold sim years ahead of time before the profiles are even released seems like a shaky strategy.
