SRS  - Simple Rating System = MOV + SOS + correction for home court %
Luck - difference between actual wins and MOV predicted wins, positive means lucky, negative unlucky
P'offs - chance of reaching playoffs
Odds - projected fractional title odds

Wow strong final sim to get the 8 seed. Even lost head to head to the heat in that sim.

Had to beat the Bobcats on the final day to get in.

elo is a system where everyone has a rating (set to 1200 to start each season)
if you beat a team with a much higher rating than you, you go way up
if you beat a team with a much lower rating than you, you don't go up much
and if you LOSE to those teams, it's the opposite

so if we follow a top team like the mavericks on the graph, you can see how they go up quickly and then up more slowly (since all the other teams are below them) and sooner or later whoosh a big drop (since, again, all the other teams are below them)

and then the spurs do the opposite - sooner or later they win a game, and since they're at the bottom all the wins are big jumps

we did this in 5.0 but i realized just now that the calc i got off Internet was slightly off. often the shield (#1 reg season seed) and crown (elo winner) were the same team, but not always. i don't know if we'll ever see differences here

yeah i don't know if there's a solution, it's already really hard to tell who's who since everyone uses blue and red. remind me next year i'll try dots and dashes
