The Charlotte ObserverIn an unexpected and surely emotional turn of events, the Hornets have dealt franchise icon Mason Plumlee to the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for a smattering of assets that we're not even going to mention so as not to include them in the same sentence as our beloved muse. Plumlee came to the Queen City after a decent career at Duke and probably set numerous franchise records during his five-year tenure. The former third overall selection had many GMs and analysts scratching their head when he was picked, but who's scratching now, huh? That's what we thought. It certainly wasn't a decision the franchise wanted to make regarding their cornerstone player, but their hands were tied when Plumlee publicly expressed his desire to pursue opportunities outside of basketball and demanded a trade to a west coast team where a career in the film industry could be pursued. On the heels of the trade announcement, sources indicated that Plumlee, who is still owed $40,000,000 over the next four years, had already inked a deal with Seattle-based production company Hand Crank Films to create a documentary about his illustrious career on the hardwood.
