Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: UR
Season Per-36:
Summary: Probably a fluke, but Warrick looks really good to start the season. Efficiency, rebounding, and defense are all pluses for him right now, though the turnovers are scary. With only +5 left, he may be the type of player whose turnovers you just have to live with as you're not going to be able to fix them. I don't expect him to remain here for the duration of the season, but he deserves a shout for the solid production he's put up in the early parts of his second year.

9. Andrew Bynum - Indiana Pacers
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 6
Season Per-36:
Summary: Excellent rebounding, pretty good defense, and low turnovers, but he shoots a little bit too frequently for my taste at his efficiency. People have talked about him as a D/R big, which I can certainly see, but I'm curious if Heebs still has some hope that Bynum will end up a scorer as well as he put +2 into his inside scoring (rolled over from shot blocking). Two out of thirty points isn't much, but I fully expected every point to go to D/R stats.

8. Deron Williams - Miami Heat
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: HM
Season Per-36:
Summary: I don't expect Williams' efficiency to hold up, and if that ends up happening, he becomes a solid game manager point guard but likely falls out of the top 10. Turnovers are amazing and with Webber and Mashburn, he may be just the type of point guard the Heat need. Still, the Staircase isn't about team fit, but overall player quality and looks good, but the only stats that I think will really continue to stand out are the TOs.

7. David Lee - Chicago Stags
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 7
Season Per-36:
Summary: Excellent scoring and low turnovers but bad defense and bad rebounding. When I was first compiling this list, I expected Lee to slot in to the top 3 as he's #1 in the class in efficiency so far, but we just saw a lot of efficient bigs in the 3004 class who rebounded and/or defended better than Lee.

24.0 8.6 4.5 1.3 0.2 1.8 .573 .734 .500 1.255 22.5

6. Brandon Bass - Philadelphia 76ers
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 10
Season Per-36:
Summary: Lots of offense, decent rebounding, average turnovers, no defense. These types of players have thrived in the league and at this point there's no reason to think Bass won't as well. Fifth in the class in pts/tsa, though I'm interested to see how he and Carr - two very similar players - hold down the frontcourt in Philly when neither provides all that much defense.

5. Uros Slokar - Los Angeles Lakers
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 3
Season Per-36:
Summary: Very similar to the player one spot ahead of him, but a hair less efficient and has lower potential, so he falls just below. Still, Slokar was taken at the end of the second and is providing essentially the same production as someone taken in the top 10. He's likely tapped out on growth, but you can't ask for much more value out of a player drafted where he was.

21.1 11.6 2.5 0.9 1.3 2.4 .560 .719 .000 1.186 19.6

4. Andray Blatche - Sacramento Kings
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 5
Season Per-36:
Summary: Blatche is developing really nicely for GBG and looks the part of a really nice all-around big man. Very efficient, good rebounding, and he throws in some blocked shots as a bonus. Still just 20, he very likely has additional growth ahead of him, as well as a camp which could be used in a variety of ways, but perhaps the most appealing would be -10 passing to increase his shot attempts and decrease his turnovers. His FT% is significantly lower than it was last season, but if it gets back up into the 75% range, he's probably the third best player in the class.
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 5

P R A S B T FG% FT% 3P% P/TSA PER
26.8 11.2 3.3 0.3 1.4 2.5 .566 .699 .000 1.208 23.1

3. Danny Granger - Texas Chaparrals
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 9
Season Per-36:
Summary: Granger looks a lot like Webster when it comes to scoring and rebounding, but is a better defender and a bit worse at holding on to the ball. Unlike Webster, Granger is locked in at SF which substantially lowers his value. Currently ranks third in the class in pts/tsa.
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 9
Season Per-36:
P R A S B T FG% FT% 3P% P/TSA PER
25.5 9.3 4.7 1.1 0.0 2.5 .567 .776 .222 1.213 22.3

2. Martell Webster - Pittsburgh Pipers
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 2
Season Per-36:
Summary: Webster only has one real weakness but it's a major one as his defense is laughably bad. He still gets the #2 spot as he's the second best scorer in the class but combines that with the rebounding of a power forward and low turnovers. As we're seeing from the Pipers this year, he's going to need good defenders around him for his team to be good, but he's excellent everywhere else.
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 2

28.6 8.3 1.2 0.4 0.2 2.0 .552 .857 .500 1.228 21.7

1. Chris Paul - Minnesota Timberwolves
Rookie Ladder Final Ranking: 1
Season Per-36:
Summary: Paul has started this season slow but hangs on to the #1 spot due to his legendary rookie season. I'll be very interested to see whether he's closer to his sophomore numbers or his rookie numbers once his career is all said and done. If it's his sophomore numbers, he'll still be pretty d@ng good, but probably not the league-changing player we saw as a rookie.
