DIRT PAPERS Presents:
Top 20 OP 2nd Rounders
#1. Uros Slokar A- D+ D+ B- C+ C
C 30 26.2 25.8 11.8 2.0 1.3 1.9 2.7 .616 .643 .000 1.262 24.2
-Uros has emerged as an amazing scoring big with above average defensive stats. He comes into the league as a great presence for your playoff bound Los Angeles Lakers. This is a great player if you can ignore the bad free throw percentage.
#2. Wayne Robinson B D+ D+ B B- C
PF 35 33.5 25.7 11.0 2.5 1.3 1.7 2.9 .477 .633 .000 1.031 20.2
-Robinson was an anchor for your Milwaukee Bucks last season and was dealt away to Toronto. I think the downturn for Trofie has shown the importance of a player like Robinson. He is good at a lot of things and even though his TO are a bit much he makes up for in bleals.
#3. Nick Fazekas A- C C- C C C
PF 37 27.8 23.5 8.4 1.5 0.8 0.2 1.6 .560 .778 .250 1.191 19.2
-Mr.Fazekas ends up #3 on this list and only because he is elite at one thing and that’s scoring. Some would say this is controversial because of his defense but I think his scoring is so good you have to put him above some of the non-scoring bigs.
#4. Joel Anthony C+ C- D+ B B D
C 39 26.0 8.4 11.6 2.1 1.1 3.1 2.5 .418 .690 .000 .944 11.6
-I think Anthony is the best scoring big to come out of the 2nd round so far. He doesn’t give you the most rebounds but he does block the most shots.
#5. Stewart Granger C A- A C- D- C
PG 31 39.1 18.1 2.9 10.3 1.0 0.2 2.3 .481 .925 .374 1.121 18.2
-This comes to no surprise that Granger sneaks into the top 5. He is a capable poing guard that can start for a playoff roster. His FG% isn’t awful and he doesn’t turn the ball over. He is borderline max player and that is special when discussing 2nd rounders.
#6. Winfred King B+ D+ C- C+ B- C
C 32 23.3 25.4 12.2 2.3 1.4 0.9 2.1 .501 .561 .000 1.041 21.0
-Winfred comes in just short of the top 5 but he is still a very serviceable big that can be a rotation or starter for a playoff team. He scores really well and is the best rebounder when it comes to 2nd rounders. He doesn’t turn the ball over a lot and will get you a good amount of bleals.
#7. Jawann Oldham C D+ C- B B C
C 31 33.5 9.0 12.4 2.5 0.7 1.8 1.7 .433 .585 .000 .925 11.8
-Another non-scoring big comes in at #8. A big jump in rebounding this year but his shot blocking hasn’t improved that much. He still gives you the defensive you’re looking for and was a very solid pick in the 2nd round.
#8. Johan Petro B- D D+ B C+ C
C 27 29.9 19.3 9.8 2.1 1.4 1.6 2.9 .484 .504 .000 .993 15.4
-Some would call this a reach but Petro still has +30 left for his upgrades. I mocked him as a 1st rounder but ank was able to get a really good player in the 2nd round.
#9.Kurt Nimphius C+ D D+ B- C B
C 17 28.2 12.8 9.5 2.3 1.6 2.8 2.6 .518 .472 .000 1.041 13.9
-I sent a couple offers to Egg for Nimphius before he put him on his DC. It’s a smaller sample size but if he can continue this trend, I can see him being a really big especially at getting drafted in the 2nd Round.
#10. Stanko Barac B- C- C- B C+ C
C 33 31.2 26.9 9.9 2.8 1.6 0.8 2.4 .469 .658 .000 1.011 20.4
-Stank has been really good for Duc but his efficiency isn’t there. I do like his steals and with his sample size will keep that up. The good news is duc can put another +20 into Barac and that could make him a really good player that could jump up this list.
#11. Sean Williams C+ C- C B- B- D
PF 39 28.6 7.8 10.8 2.4 1.1 1.5 2.4 .470 .686 .000 1.065 10.8
-For being a hidden gem, he just didn’t end up as good as I thought. Joel really got the favorable shot blocking TC and Williams has stayed the same. That doesn’t mean he’s not a solid 2nd round player. You just with he could have improved in rebounding or blocking but he didn’t.
#12. Stephane Lasme A- C- C C C C
PF 31 24.5 28.8 9.0 3.8 0.9 0.7 3.2 .555 .646 .000 1.175 23.1
-Lasme has been quietly putting great numbers for a 2nd round pick. I would probably put him a bit higher if he was playing alongside better players. He doesn’t give you much on the defensive stat line but he is elite and putting the ball in the hoop.
#13. Mirza Telitobic B+ C C- C C B
PF 20 19.1 22.7 9.2 1.9 1.2 0.7 2.1 .511 .774 .250 1.119 18.8
-Mirza finally got his upgrades and was thrust into the lineup in Dallas. Mavs have a lot of bigs and Mirza has carved his own path with solid pts/tsa and good enough bleals to crack a playoff team’s rotation.
#14. Sun Yu B- B- C+ C C- C
SG 28 24.3 10.6 5.7 3.9 1.4 0.1 1.3 .520 .800 .360 1.173 12.1
-Being a hidden gem and mentor eligible was the only way Yu could crack this list. He gives you a solid fg% but isn’t good enough to give the 76ers any type of volume. If he was on a lesser of a squad maybe he would have been higher.
#15. Jim Lampley C D D B- B- D
C 32 30.9 12.2 11.5 2.2 1.3 1.7 2.1 .429 .541 .000 .895 12.5
-I like Lampley and if he had his upgrades, I can see him boosting up this list. I think his volume would go down in a good way on a solid roster and bumping his rebounding could make Lampley a really good player for a new team.
#16. David Lawrence B- C- D+ C+ C C
PF 27 11.1 13.0 9.0 1.7 1.2 2.0 1.0 .530 .741 .000 1.138 15.0
-Mr.Lawrence has a very small sample size and that’s why he fell so far on this list. He still has some upgrades and should be getting more minutes for the 76ers. It will be interesting to see what happens playing for an elite roster.
#17. James Ray A- C- D+ C C+ C
PF 34 26.1 17.7 8.5 1.3 1.8 0.5 1.2 .493 .732 .000 1.076 16.0
-This should give me some grief putting James Ray so far on my list. He is a really good scorer and gets great steals but doesn’t do much on the glass. If his pts/tsa were better he would def sky rocket but he just hasn’t done much this season. I understand why his volume is low and I thought that would make his efficiency better but it hasn’t happened.
#18. Carl Landry A- C- D+ C C D
PF 32 33.5 27.9 9.8 2.3 1.4 0.1 2.6 .501 .652 .125 1.064 20.7
-Out of the scoring bigs that will off this list, Landry has the best effienciy and its that simple. He isn’t on a great roster so he gets a lot of volue but he does crack .501 FG%. He doesn’t do much else but score and steal a bit but I’d rather have that than really bad TOs.
#19 Taurean Green C- A- C+ C- D+ C
PG 37 31.2 15.9 3.7 8.3 0.8 0.1 1.6 .425 .976 .303 1.019 15.3
-Taurean is having a bad shooting year but does have a lot of win shares. I’m not a big fan of what he’s doing this year but it is a decent 2nd round point guard.
#20. Sidney Lowe C+ B- B C+ D C
PG 35 35.5 20.1 3.3 10.9 1.6 0.2 2.4 .428 .750 .373 1.000 18.8
-The 3rd best PG ends this list and this shows 2nd round PGs just aren’t good enough to run a championship roster. His scoring efficiency is really low and hopefully can improve.
